We went to the Ventura Show the weekend of September 7th. We had to leave Vegas at 5:30 due to a boring meeting that I had to attend.
The drive to California was very good and uneventful. Surprisingly, there wasn't as much traffic as we thought we would encounter.
I had just put new tires in the rear and was eager to test them on the highway. What a huge difference!! The car was a lot quieter
and not as hard on our rears over the bumps and rough roads. The weekend weather turned out to be beautiful. Anytime there is a
combination of seventy degree weather, blue skies and stunning Porsches to gauk at makes for a fabulous time. The theme for this
year was "Turbos on Main Street". What an awesome sight to behold. The street was lined up with Turbos from classic to new.
Vendors like Pelican Parts, Performance Parts, Rusnak Porsche and many more were well represented and offered many good deals
to be had there. We met new people and deepened relationships with others that we had seen at other events. When we left the
show on Sunday, we started on a scenic drive down the coast to enjoy the view when we were suddenly surrounded by a band of
Porsches with the same thought. We followed and rode with them for a while. At a stop light I asked one of the Posse members
where they were headed and was pleaseantly surprised when they asked us to join them down the coast toward Malibu. Not to miss a
great opportunity to drive with fellow enthusiasts, we followed and went for a memorable ride. We stopped in several places
along the way for pictures and to enjoy the coastal view. We then turned into a small road that led us to the famous Mulholland Hwy.
What a treat! I had read about this winding road in magazines. We ended the trip in a quaint restaurant and shared a great meal
with what turned out to be a whole family of Porschephiles. Dad, his three sons, inlaws and close friends. This was their first
time driving together like this. This is the reason we joined the club. To visit new cities, attend great shows, and gain new friends.
Hopefully, more of our club members can join us for the many more trips we intend to partake in around the west.
