We organize a rally each year of from two to three hours duration here in the Las Vegas area.
Fun rallies are either gimmick, scavenger or poker rallies. Some are for Porsches only. Other rallies are
traditionally open to other car clubs in Las Vegas, and a prize is awarded not only to the best participants, but also to the best club.
Fun rallies are easy and based primarily on luck so anyone able to follow directions from simple clues have a chance of winning.
Drivers and navigators are given hints about what to look for, and then follow specific directions at each of these landmarks.
These rally events are often referred to as "gimmick" rallies that are set up for fun, like being able to answer the most riddles based on what they see,
or a "scavenger" rally that requires them to pick up an object at each stop, or a "poker" rally that has drivers stop at checkpoints to
pick up a playing card at each stop. The best hand of playing cards wins the rally. Therefore poker runs are based almost entirely on chance.
These rallies usually start at a car dealer or other sponsor. They provide coffee, breakfast and/or other attractions. So as long as no one gets lost,
everyone has an equal chance at winning. Anyone who does get lost is given a phone number to call for the final destination.
There are also competitive TSD rallies that require skill to maintain the proper time, speed and distance.
All rallies are over paved roads. In the very rare exception that a short stretch of road is unpaved, it is usually due to
construction, and it is always announced before the rally. We do not sponsor any type of off-road rallies.
The final destination is usually a restaurant or club with protected parking in front so participants can enjoy
lunch and drinks afterwards while they watch the cars cross the finish line, and the judges determine the winners.
There are usually numerous photo opportunities as the rally normally encludes a number of scenic routes.
Other "Vegas style" photo opportunities are often provided at the start and finish lines.
The club trophy is passed among the various car clubs every year, as the winning club keeps the trophy until the following year.
Car clubs participating besides the Porsche Club are the Ferrari Club, Mercedes Club, Viper Club and British Car Club.
All car clubs are welcome. A minimum number of participants must enter from each club to qualify for the club trophy.
